FEMALE
BLUE BULL IN THE SITAMATA JUNGLE [BOSELAPLURS TRAGOCAMELUS]
Family : Bovidae
Population : Unknown
Habitat : Usually dry deciduous savanna, open scrub forest.
Most Active : Early morning and evening till 11pm
Size : 130-150cm at shoulders, weight 170-250kg
Diet : Seeds, shrubs, thorn bushes.
Usually Blue-Bull Antelope avoid thick Jungles and two
herds of approx 13 females and two males live permanently inside the Sitamata
Jungle core. This is of particular interest to wildlife lovers and naturalists
as we have observed that rarely do these herds venture outside the forest and
their diet consists mainly of shrubs and seeds from the non-cultivated lands
inside the Sitamata Jungle core a habit not found with other Blue-Bull
herds of Nothern India. |

FLIGHT OF A SITAMATA JUNGLE FLYING
SQUIRREL*
The wildlife in the Sita mata jungle includes 44 giant "flying squirrels" found ony
in the Sita mata jungle in nothern India. The population has
increased by 2 with the birth of 2 new squirrels in 2006. This
squirrel actually does not fly but glides up to 70 meters from tree
to tree at night foraging for food and housing materials. This
squirrel is nocturnal and comes out of their tree home at the exact
moment of dusk. It waits patiently watching for any threats and then
takes the first flight of the evening to a nearby tree to enjoy a
“breakfast” of maduka indica leaves. This squirrel is one of the
Indian jungles most glorious sights.
